Tooth Colored Fillings in Worthington, Ohio

Teeth experience a lot of wear and tear, and without a strict and complete dental hygiene regimen our teeth can decay. This decay is what leads to cavities. Besides just being very painful, having untreated cavities can cause major health problems like abscesses and may even lead to bone loss. Cavities are not the only reason to get a filling; cracked or broken teeth, and unusual tooth wear from grinding your teeth or biting your nails also need to be fixed with a filling. Luckily, having the tooth filled will fix the problem and prevent any other problems from occurring.

You may remember noticing your parents’ or grandparents’ gold or silver metal fillings, but luckily we now offer tooth colored fillings to keep your smile "shiny and white" instead of "shiny and metallic". Our fillings are made of a composite resin, and will maintain a pearly white smile. Composite resin fillings are durable and resistant to the typical wear of chewing. You don’t have to give up your natural-looking smile just because of cavities anymore.

Having your tooth filled is a very easy procedure. After you’re given a local anesthetic to keep you comfortable, Dr. Appel or Dr. Caton will get rid of the decay using a small drill. They will then fill the hole in layers and cure each layer with light to harden the filling. Next, it’s polished to look just like your tooth. You can expect the filling to feel a little sensitive right after the procedure, but this improves quickly over time.

It’s important to remember that fillings don’t last forever. They aren’t as durable as your natural tooth enamel, so it’s even more important to maintain good dental hygiene. After a filling, your tooth will regularly need to be checked by our team to ensure that the filling is lasting.
